Selection Process:
- Applicants will be shortlisted for engagement through a system-generated merit list.
- The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the 10th standard (Secondary School Examination), converted into percentage up to four decimal places.
- For candidates who have received grades or points only, subject-wise marks will be calculated by applying a multiplication factor of 9.5.
- If Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is mentioned, marks will be calculated by multiplying the CGPA by 9.5.
- In case two or more candidates secure the same marks, preference will be decided based on date of birth (older candidate will be given priority), followed by the category order: ST trans-woman, ST female, SC trans-woman, SC female, OBC trans-woman, OBC female, EWS trans-woman, EWS female, UR trans-woman, UR female, and so on.
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed through SMS and email sent to their registered mobile number and email address.
- Document verification will be carried out by the Divisional/Unit Head of the concerned Division/Unit where the post is notified.
- After successful verification, a system-generated “Offer of Provisional Engagement” will be issued immediately.
- Candidates must complete all pre-engagement formalities within 30 days from the date of the provisional offer, including 3 days of basic training and arrangement of accommodation (for BPM posts).
- The final engagement order will be issued after receipt of verification reports from the issuing authorities and police verification reports.

More Information For Application Process
- Candidates are not required to upload any documents with the application form except a recent photograph and signature.
- Applications submitted with incomplete or incorrect information will be rejected.
- Applicants must enter details such as name, date of birth, father’s name, and mother’s name strictly as per the SSC (Class X) marksheet.
- Applications with blurred, unclear, or illegible photographs/signatures will be rejected.
- Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) are not regular employees of the Department/Central Government. Their service conditions are governed by the GDS (Conduct and Engagement) Rules, 2020.
- GDS are required to work for a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 5 hours per day.
- GDS shall not be retained beyond 65 years of age.
- A GDS must have another source of income apart from the allowances paid by the Government for adequate livelihood.
- Candidates selected as BPM must arrange accommodation for running the Branch Post Office at their own cost.
- The Department reserves the right to modify, cancel the notification, or revise the number of posts at any time without assigning any reason.
- Candidates who have been dismissed, removed, or compulsorily retired from Government service/Gramin Dak Sevak as a measure of penalty are not eligible to apply.
- Persons holding any elective office will not be considered for engagement.
- The selected GDS shall not engage in any activity with outside agencies that may be detrimental to the business or interests of the Post Office/IPPB.
- Past experience or previous service of any kind will not be considered for selection.
- The Department will verify the authenticity of Secondary Level marksheets through the API SETU Portal/DigiLocker, wherever available online.
